THE LITTLE GENIUS - An educational app for kids

( Created using MIT App Inventor 2 )

Hello everyone... This time I came up with something interesting that I think you guys will find absolutely fun and useful.

What is this post about?

This post is all about one of the few Android apps that I made using MIT App Inventor. Since this was one of my final project for my school so I was quite serious about it while working on it. I was just like as if I was about to revolutionize everything. . . haha.

What is MIT App Inventor?

Well, I believe that most of you guys are already familiar with MIT App Inventor but for those of you who are new to MIT App Inventor can learn more about it from here.

NOTE:- If you are a beginner and have no experience with MIT App Inventor then I strongly recommend you guys to check some of the tutorials on MIT App Inventor (at least 2-3 beginner tutorials). Click here for the official tutorials.

About the app...

The Little Genius app is just a fun and educational app especially meant for kids. And a lot of effort was put to make app colorful and interactive so that it appears really fun to little kids. The app was completely made by keeping the perspective of a kid in mind.

The Main Menu

The main menu has four options:

1) Number Game

2) Paint Editor

3) Hidden Objects Game

4) Alphabet Game

NOTE:- Due to limited time I was only able to finish the Paint Editor. I will update this post as soon as I add the other features.

You guys might be thinking of the other buttons in the picture. Well, those are Music Button (For switching Music State), Exit Button (For terminating the Application) and Camera Button (To Open Camera).

One might notice that there is another button called Randomize. Unfortunately, that button does not work currently as it is necessary that all the four options are available for that button to work.

The Paint Editor

The Paint editor has lots of amazing features such as:
  • Drawing lines, circles, dotted lines, etc. The properties of the edit tools can be specified too.
  • Other than that there is a list of many colorful icons too that one can access by clicking    button.
  • Besides the monkey face, there are few other inbuilt pictures too that one can play around with.
  • There is also an option for editing your own pictures. To do that click the camera    button which opens the camera, take a picture, confirm it and you are all set to edit the picture.
  • Edited pictures can be saved using the save    button.
  • Button Info can be seen by clicking the Question mark    button at the top right corner.
  • And lots more.

A Deeper Look...

The app actually has three screens. I know it looks like there are more than three screens but in reality, it just has three screens. And every screen has a certain amount of blocks associated with it that makes the application function properly and similarly every scene in my app had blocks too that makes the app work.

Logic Blocks...

1) The Main Menu

2) The Editing Screen  (Icon Screen and the Menu buttons Screen included)

3) The Button Info Screen

I am pretty sure that the pictures above are lacking details and it is a bit difficult to understand the blocks just with the help of the pictures, so I am leaving a link to the project file and the APK file so that you guys can have a better understanding...
